The original painting was inspired by the wonderful Art Deco architecture which emerged during the mid to late 1930s better known as Streamline. Its style emphasised curving forms, long horizontal lines, and often nautical elements – these being synonymous with many classic buildings found in Australian cities. What you see in this painting is my interpretation of the colours and shapes that reflected the optimistic outlook of the era; Streamline represented all that was new, modern and inspiring for a new generation.
